We knew that Rockstar Games rarely distributed information about their games. On September 18, 2022, there was a data leak, which was the biggest in the history of the gaming industry. As a result, dozens of videos and screenshots from the test version of GTA 6 appeared on the Internet.
This was a real nightmare for Rockstar. They confirmed the breach and stated that the leaked footage showed an outdated version of the game. Some materials claim that the assembly was created in 2021. Despite the significance of the leak, Rockstar confirmed that it had no influence on the development process.
In fact, Rockstar Games says that GTA 6 is “in active development” as of February 2022. According to Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, development is “in full swing” in the summer of 2022.
Jason Shrier, one of the most famous players, confirmed that Vice City would appear in the game, but in its modern form, not in the 1980s version. Passengers, dressed in fashionable clothes and holding smartphones in their hands, are actually shown in one of the leaked videos. GTA: Vice City was also released in 1986. Before the leak, some sources said that the new GTA would have two main characters, and for the first time in the series, one of them would be a woman. Their names, Jason and Lucy, are already known, and it seems that the character shift system that was used in GTA 5 is returning to the game. Overall, it is expected that the GTA 6 map will be much wider than the GTA 5 map.
The world’s area in GTA 5 is approximately 80 square kilometers, but in GTA 6, this figure will grow to 200 square miles. It is not known how many of them will be available for visit.
Take-Two’s financial reports (owned by Rockstar) state that the release of the sixth part of GTA will take place “between April 2024 and March 2025,”. However, sources familiar with the situation claim that the game will be released in the fall of 2024.
The story is supposed to be based on the stories of Bonnie and Clyde, famous robbers who worked during the Great Depression in the United States. Jason and Lucy will rob banks and build their own criminal empire, following the example of their ancestors.
